In Herat, Afghanistan, the farmers were faced immense challenges, they had no excellent and better products from their fields, where this is the only way of earning money for them.
VDO has supported these farmers by arranging a training to all the farmers to beautifully earn from the fields and support themselves. This training was focusing on agriculture and livelihood to stand on their own feet and improve their quality of life and local economy.
Participants expressed great satisfaction about the training and said it would help them earn more income from their farming.
Shah Nawaz, a 40-year-old man, said, “I had land and lots of fields, but I don’t have money to use my land for my benefits, I am old, I am not able to work another job, and I am uneducated, we have the only way of agriculture and farming to support our families and ensure our life is safe.”
During the training, the farmers were guided about improved wheat, cultivation, planting diseases, seeds usage and agricultural environment.
“Mr. Shah Nawaz added that when VDO provided us a training on agriculture, we learned more about it, this training will help us to increase our income and earn more from our own income.”
VDO has provided a total of 200 vulnerable farmers essential assistance to boost their income and improve livelihoods and every farmer received 50 kg wheat seeds, 50 kg Urea and 50 kg DP to empower their local economy and support families financially.
“This assistance which I received will assist me to increase my products and earn more from my farming, this assistance comes in a very good time where I had nothing to continue my life and run my family, thanks for your services, said Shah Nawaz.”
This project is implementing by VDO and funded by DRA in Herat, Afghanistan to help farmers stand on their own feet and strengthen their local economy.
