Safeguarding

Our Safeguarding Commitment

At Vision Development Organization (VDO), we are deeply committed to ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of all individuals, especially vulnerable populations, who are affected by our work. Our Safeguarding Commitment is central to our mission and values, guiding our actions, policies, and practices to prevent and address any harm, abuse, or exploitation that may occur within our programs and operations.

We uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability in all our interactions, and we have zero tolerance for any form of abuse or misconduct. Our Safeguarding Policy outlines clear guidelines, procedures, and mechanisms for preventing, detecting, and responding to safeguarding concerns, including reporting mechanisms, training programs, and support services for survivors.

At VDO, we prioritize the safety and dignity of every individual we serve, and we are committed to fostering environments that are safe, inclusive, and empowering for all. We recognize that safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we actively engage with our staff, partners, and stakeholders to promote awareness, understanding, and compliance with our safeguarding principles and standards.

Through our Safeguarding Commitment, we strive to create a culture of respect, accountability, and transparency that protects the rights and well-being of all individuals and upholds the highest ethical standards in our work. Together, we can ensure that everyone we serve feels safe, valued, and respected, and that our programs and operations contribute to positive, sustainable outcomes for individuals and communities across Afghanistan.

Protecting Beneficiaries:

  • Zero Tolerance for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA): We have a rigorous PSEA policy with mandatory training for all staff. This policy outlines a robust framework for preventing, identifying, and responding to SEA incidents. We maintain multiple, confidential reporting channels for beneficiaries to voice concerns.
  • Safeguarding Measures: We prioritize the safety and well-being of all beneficiaries. This includes:
    • Background checks: Conducting thorough background checks on all personnel working with beneficiaries.
    • Code of Conduct: Enforcing a strict Code of Conduct for staff, outlining expected behaviors and zero tolerance for misconduct.
    • Safeguarding training: Providing regular training to staff on safeguarding best practices.

VDO is committed to creating a positive and lasting impact. We believe empowered communities and protected beneficiaries are the cornerstones of a brighter future.
